Join us for a morning hike on the Palos Verdes bluffs overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean on Sunday, August 6 followed by lunch at Nelson’s, located at the Terranea Resort where we can park for the duration of our hike.
We’ll meet outside of Nelson’s at 10 a.m. and from there, head off for one of the most breathtaking walks in all of Los Angeles, the Terranea Trail that runs along the cliff line and leads to Pelican Cove.
We’ll pass by the Point Vicente Lighthouse, built in 1926 and still used today and then on to the Point Vincente Interpretive Center, marked by a breaching gray whale sculpture. Inside the center are a myriad of exhibits, including a wing devoted to Marineland of the Pacific, the former sea-themed amusement park that operated a half mile south of here.
Continuing on, we’ll come across an amphitheater-type viewing area facing the ocean that is a popular spot to watch for Pacific gray whales. From there, we’ll take the Seascape trail that parallels Calle Entradero. When we reach the Calle Entradero trail head, we’ll turn back to Nelson’s where we can kick-back and enjoy a delicious, well-deserved lunch at an outdoor table and enjoy the views of Catalina.
