Should busy singular daters turn to virtual dating assistants to organize their dating life?
Online dating can be quite time-consuming when you factor in the searching, e-mailing, and planning that goes into it. You joined dating websites to date and meet potential girlfriends or boyfriends. But when busy with work and other obligations, who has time for dating?
Well rest assured, if you have money, online dating can be done for you. Sort of.
Like expensive personal matchmakers who are experts in finding love for wealthy clients too busy to look, there are now virtual dating assistants for the busy online daters.
Virtualdatingassistants.com and Doneforyoudating.com are two companies that offer assistance if you are just too busy to look for love on your own. They help craft your profile, surf different dating websites to look for matches, check matching profiles, and can even communicate on your behalf. This cuts down on the time you spend sifting through profiles, which I can appreciate.
While I’m a fan of technology that can make things easier for the average dater to meet new people, I’m skeptical when it involves too much automation. The problem comes with communication. When you use a virtual dating assistant, the service can produce great writing but it will naturally be too generic to convey the real you.
And who wants to date a fraud? Sooner or later, you’ll have to come clean. Virtual dating assistants don’t write or sound like you, and it leads to confusion once you meet your dates in person.
Bottom line? You could be missing out on meeting a lot of great people, just because you aren’t fully involved in the actual search process. Plus, your match has no idea who she’s actually been emailing, which is never a good start. If you join an online dating site and have the time to go on dates, make the time to get to know your matches from the beginning. Don’t have a service do your communicating for you.
