| Carnival Cruise Lines Jumps Ship on Future Cougar Cruise Plans |

  Just when you thought it was safe to go in the water, Carnival Cruise Lines has pulled the plug on its plans to host future Cougar Cruises. Rich Gosse, who came up with the idea of organizing a Cougar cruise, along with his other cougar-themed promotions, says the first cruise on Carnival was held in early December. Nearly 300 “cougars” and “cubs” embarked on a three-night Mexican cruise out of California aboard the 2,052-passenger Carnival Elation. Gosse said that when people go on cruises their inhibitions go overboard. “If you want to meet somebody of the opposite sex, this is the best way to do it," he said. Singular wasn’t there to see what really went down on the world’s first cougar cruise, but when Gosse tried to book another Cougar Carnival trip, the cruise company said no. In a statement, Carnival Cruises said it didn't have any problems with the Cougar Cruise group but has chosen to discontinue such "theme" bookings. Gosse is not one to give up easily and has already scheduled cruises on different cruise lines. The next will take place May 16: Seven-nights to the Mexican Riviera on Royal Caribbean International's Mariner of the Seas. Then on Dec. 3 Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Sky will set sail on a three-night cruise to the Bahamas. In an interview with ABC News, Stewart Chiron, a Miami cruise expert and chief executive of CruiseGuy.com said, "Carnival has done a great deal to distance themselves from being considered Spring Break USA. They want a fun, family experience on board and this type of business and the negative attention that they got as a result of it was disruptive. They are not going to have any problem filling their cruise lines without this business." ABC noted that travel agents will often sell a block of rooms on a ship for a themed cruise. For instance, next month the Bellamy Brothers are hosting a 7-night country music Caribbean cruise. But that isn't likely to be as controversial. ummmm.., yeah. The whole concept seems a little bizarre. the gals are looking for sex and the guys are looking for a meal ticket. I've got nothing against dating a different age, it's just that the whole "cougar" thing seems so contrived and impersonal.

Hey, if you want to date a younger guy GREAT. But so we have to make such a big deal out of it? Can you imagine a cruise specifically for old guys and young chicks? How tacky would that be?
