Singular Jennifer Aniston and FOX talk show host Bill O’Reilly clash after she makes comments about the freedom to be a single mother.
Singular actress Jennifer Aniston got into a feud recently with conservative talk show host Bill O’Reilly when he blasted her for sending a message to women that it was OK to have a baby without a husband. The hubbub arose because of Anniston’s new movie, The Switch, where she plays a 40-year-old TV producer who wants to have a baby, but doesn’t want to wait around for a man to make it happen and so turns to a sperm donor.
In a press conference to promote the movie, Aniston said, “Women are realizing it more and more, knowing that they don’t have to settle with a man just to have that child,” a comment that fired up the conservative talk show host.
On his FOX TV show, The O’Reilly Factor, he accused Aniston of “diminishing the role of the dad,” and slammed her, saying the comments she made about how women can have babies without Mr. Right were “destructive to our society.”
“There are millions of single mothers who do a great job raising their kids,” O’Reilly said, but “[Aniston]’s throwing a message out to 12-year-olds and 13-year-olds that, ‘Hey, you don’t need a guy. You don’t need a dad.’”
In response to his attack, Aniston said, “Of course, the ideal scenario for parenting is obviously two parents of a mature age. Parenting is one of the hardest jobs on earth. And, of course, many women dream of finding Prince Charming (with fatherly instincts), but for those who’ve not yet found their Bill O’Reilly, I’m just glad science has provided a few other options.”
