Democrats and Republicans are racing to woo singles so we’ll vote for them on Election Day. Which party do you think best serves the interests of single people?
According to a recent article in the Washington Post, single women tend to vote overwhelmingly for President Barack Obama’s Democratic Party, but more than a fifth of unmarried women aren’t registered. So for Democrats, the challenge is to sign them up, and rile them up — chiefly on the notion that Republicans are waging a so-called “war against women” on issues like contraception.
Republicans, meanwhile, are betting women, like men, will vote on Obama’s stewardship of the economy. They’re looking to attract singles who are conservative and think a Republican candidate is more likely to get the economy back on track.
Which political party do you think best represents the interests of singles in America — both men and women?
