For our next SingularCity travel adventure we’re heading up the road for a weekend in Santa Barbara.
The fun starts on Friday, May 1 when we check into Hotel Santa Barbara. Centrally located at 533 State Street, the hotel is within walking distance of Sterns Wharf, the Funk Zone, great restaurants, shopping and entertainment. Check out the great reviews on TripAdvisor.
SingularCity has a room block and special discount code but you must book both Friday and Saturday. Prices start at $209 for a room with 1 queen bed. The room includes continental breakfast. When you RSVP (please e-mail email@example.com with SANTA BARBARA in the subject line), we will contact you with the code to book your room.
After we’ve checked in, we’ll head down to the Funk Zone for the First Friday Art Walk. This neighborhood has exploded into a contemporary Santa Barbara sub-culture of artisan shops, art galleries and hip eateries. Artists, winemakers, and up-and-coming chefs have taken up shop in aged warehouses and forgotten scuba shops, transforming the zone into an understated array of hidden hot spots. For dinner we’ll go to the Santa Barbara FisHouse located on Santa Barbara’s pristine waterfront for some of the central coast’s finest fresh seafood.
Saturday we’ll hop on the Santa Barbara Trolley for a tour of the city that includes the Santa Barbara Courthouse, Santa Barbara Zoo, Museum of Natural History, Old Town, and the historic Old Mission and more. With your ticket, (20 percent off for our guests) you can “hop on-hop off” for the rest of the day, you’ll receive a packet full of discounts at local businesses and a pass to ride the trolley for free on Sunday.
That afternoon we have two great choices: Whale Watching or Wine Tasting. The whale watching experience is aboard the sailboat, the Sunset Kidd, that unlike noisy motor boats, allows you to enjoy the peaceful tranquility of the wind in the sails while following alongside giant California Gray Whales. You’ll be able to hear the whales break the surface and breathe while enjoying the sapphire blue sea and beautiful coastline. If you prefer to keep you feet on terra firma, enjoy wine tasting at the Riverbench Winery’s Tasting Room. Riverbench, which has some of the best Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays in the entire Santa Maria Valley, is dedicated to crafting a small portfolio of wines from one remarkable vineyard made from grapes cultivated on their property — and Singular guests get 50 percent off flights!
That evening, we will reconvene for another wine tasting with a breathtaking view, this time at the Deep Sea Wine Tasting Room on Sterns Wharf where we’ll get 20 percent off our tasting tab. After that, dinner at The Lark, one of the city’s best and trendiest restaurants. Situated in the heart of the Funk Zone, menus are locally sourced and responsibly grown, using seasonal ingredients based on the abundant bounty available on the Central Coast.
For those that are still feeling adventurous, we’ll do a pub crawl to-and-through Santa Barbara’s nightlife venues.
On our last day, we’ll meet for Sunday Brunch at Andersen’s Danish Restaurant & Bakery. This family owned and operated landmark for over 40 years has a reputation for time honored ethnic European cuisine and Danish pastries. They serve brunch with handmade famous Danish pastries, kringles, strudels, eggs benedict, crepes, smoked salmon and more. The mimosas are huge and there’s a big selection of coffee drinks too. Shop in the bakery afterwards for something special to take home.
Each person is responsible for making their own hotel reservation and guaranteeing their room with a credit card. There is a 14-day cancellation policy. Your credit card will be charged 14 days prior to your arrival.
