Join your friends from SingularCity on Sunday, December 16 at 10 a.m. for a pre-holiday hike led by Malin Svensson, one of the world’s leading authorities on Nordic Walking. Malin will provide instruction before the hike and provide us with Nordic walking poles before leading us on one of her favorite hidden trails in Temescal Canyon Park in Pacific Palisades.

This is a great opportunity to experience a total body version of walking that can be enjoyed both by non-athletes and athletes alike. The activity is performed with specially designed walking poles similar to ski poles. Compared to regular walking, Nordic walking engages your entire body  in a way that is not present in normal walking.  Nordic walking has been estimated as producing up to a 46 percent increase in energy consumption, compared to walking without poles and the great part is that you have fun doing it.

After the hike, we’ll get together for a well-deserved brunch at Taste at Pacific Palisades at 538 Palisades Drive, Pacific Palisades, Ca 90272.

Although many of you know Malin as a SingularCity member, you may not know that she has a Master’s Degree in Physical Education with 26 years of experience in the fitness industry. She is the president of Nordic Body Inc. and committed to inspire people to get fit and stay fit at any age to enjoy a healthier, longer life with quality by providing 360-degree support from online coaching to live retreats, private sessions and community group classes.  She has been featured as a walking and fitness expert on CBS Los Angeles and in LA Times, The NY Times, The Wall Street Journal and Fitness magazine. Her passion for making a difference in people’s wellbeing is further expressed by her organization Adopt-A-Walk.  The 1st 1-mile walking loop will be permanently installed in Santa Monica in 2019.

So don’t miss this opportunity to learn and experience Nordic Walking on a gorgeous trail with views of the Pacific Ocean and fun conversation with friends.

** Please RSVP by sending an email to events@singularcity.com with the subject line: WALK no later than noon on Friday, December 14.  Include your height as this will determine the size of Nordic Walking poles that Malin will bring for you to use.**

We will provide the address and directions to those who RSVP.

You do not have to be a member of SingularCity to attend. This event is open to all.
