Certainly one of the most elegant ways to welcome 2013 in Los Angeles is at Disney Hall with a performance from Tony Award-winning actress, singer and songwriter Idina Menzel, star of Broadway’s Wicked and the original stage production of Rent. Menzel will be unveiling a brand-new show which will include new material and New Year’s Eve-style songs and surprises.
Accompanied by the LA Philharmonic Orchestra, Menzel will take the stage for two performances. The first show takes place at 7 pm and the second at 10:30 pm, and in between, the audience is invited to attend a New Year’s Eve party from 8:30-10:15 pm in BP Hall, the dramatic open foyer that will include a glass of champagne for all ticket holders. If you like, you can even order a bottle of champagne when you purchase your tickets.
For those who don’t know, Menzel reached super stardom on Broadway with her Tony Award-winning performance as Elphaba, the misunderstood green girl in Wicked and in her Tony-nominated role as Maureen in Rent. This season, Menzel reprised her role on “Glee,” FOX’s hit television series, as Shelby Corcoran, Rachel’s biological mother.

Looking for an alternative to the standard preppy Westside party? Well Lucent Dossier’s NYE experience is it, with an “underground” evening of dancing to some of the city’s best DJs, live performance art, art installations and exhibits in what it calls “Ravenous Rouge: A Playful Delight.”
Lucent Dossier has been described as a poor man’s Circ Du Soliel, but the prices to this event, held in a private downtown warehouse, insure that no one holding up a sign with “will work for NYE tickets” will be among the revelers.
Tickets start at $250 and go up as high as $4,500 for a VIP table for eight that includes premium seating, waitress, gratuity, two bottles of Belvedere or Don Julio, two specialty liquor infusions, four bottles of Veuve Clicquot Champagne and a variety of fresh, organic mixers.
The host requests that guests bring a gift for their non-profit organization “Cuddle the World” – bottles, blankets, teddy bears and toys. So dress in your finest and grab some diapers along the way.
Doors open at 9:30, the open bar is available until 2 am. The party will eventually end at 4 am giving you just enough time to sober up before driving back to reality.
