The Manhattan Beach Country Club may never be the same after some 400 guests, many dressed in Alice in Wonderland-themed attire, convened to celebrate and bring in 2014 at the Mad Hatter Ball.
Singular magazine was the media sponsor for the event, which was months in the making. A team of set designers, costume designers and visual affects artists transformed the venue into a fantasy destination that immersed every guest into a world of magic as immortalized in Lewis Carroll’s famous book, “Alice in Wonderland.”
The first step was to drink a “magical elixir” from a test tube (actually a Limoncello/vodka shooter that was chilled as it ran through an ice sculpture) and then into a “rabbit hole” that led to multiple party rooms.
Diversions included a queen of hearts with a tiered skirt adorned with champagne glasses, a mad hatter playing a grand piano with Alice by his side, a makeup artist, two rooms for dancing, a smoking patio, numerous bars, a set with props for taking photos with friends, a tarot card reader, and rooms full of beautiful guests dressed in their New Year’s finest or in Alice in Wonderland-themed costumes and Mad Hatter hats.
“We try to design spaces and include characters that take people into a new world for an evening so they may share the experience with close and new friends,” said Reid Tomassi, who produced the event. “We wanted it to be memorable. What better way to share an evening than with a group of your best friends? We couldn’t wait to share this event with everyone.”
From pictures NYE looks like it was an absolute BLAST! Won’t miss it next year!
