Let’s Go to Peru!

September 20, 2009

SingularCity is taking its first adventure trip and you’re invited!

The ruins of Machu Pichcuare one of the most beautiful and enigmatic ancient sites in the world.

I often tell you about my exciting travel adventures – well now you can come with me on my next trip – to Peru! This exciting adventure trip to the Andes and the Amazon will include Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca and Cuzco, the heart of the Incan Empire. The trip is being organized for SingularCity by ACTIVE South America – a reputable and experienced tour company that specializes in boutique, custom adventure trips that provide unique travel experiences that you won’t find in big, “corporate” type travel tours.

The trip includes some awesome hikes, biking tours, and kayaking – but also provides the comfort of hot showers, clean rooms and nice meals. The itinerary even includes rest days where we can kick back and relax, shop or just do whatever suits our fancy. ACTIVE’s aim is to exceed our expectations and to do all they can to make our vacation the best one we’ve ever had. They work hard to put together the best trips in South America.

The trip – called the Jaguar – starts on November 22 and ends on December 5. Yes, two weeks can seem like a long time to be away from home and work, but ACTIVE offers options that allow you to trim the trip down to a shorter version to suite your individual needs. As for me, I’m in it for the duration. This is the kind of trip that truly could be a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Another SingularCity member, Dr. Peter Fields took this same trip with this same company a while back and said that ACTIVE did a phenomenal job of planning and executing the tour. I’m sure if you would like to get his endorsement, he would be happy to answer your email. This two-week Peruvian adventure costs $3,399 and includes the following:

  • All guiding services. They always have an experienced trip leader on every trip and will have a local guide on many excursions for extra local knowledge.
  • All ground and air transportation including your final flight to Lima at the end of the trip. The only flight not included is the Lima-Cuzco flight before the beginning of the trip.
  • Comfortable accommodations for our entire trip. They can also book pre- and post-trip accommodations for you if required.
  • All our meals, except for lunch and dinner on our free day in Cuzco, where they’ve found most people like to check out the local restaurants on their own.
  • All drinking water. Alcohol and other drinks are not included – although they’ve been known to spring for a few drinks here and there!
  • All hiking, canoeing, kayaking, biking, and jungle activities as described in the itinerary, excluding optional activities as noted. None of the activities are compulsory, so if you prefer to sit some of them out and just have a ‘down day’ hanging out with a book and a hammock, then that’s fine by us. This is our vacation after all!
  • Group porters to carry shared equipment (not individual gear) on your Inca Trail including tents, cooking equipment and food. If you choose to, you can hire a personal porter to carry your overnight gear and personal gear (clothes, toiletries, sleeping mat and sleeping bag) on the Inca Trail for $50 total.
  • Tips for local activity guides and drivers, except for Inca Trail guides and porters, are taken care of by ACTIVE.
