On one of those glorious Los Angeles weekends in early June where the gloom burns off early and heads for the hills, SingularCity members, friends and a few thousand compatriot Angelinos trekked to historic Raleigh Studios for the 4th Annual L.A. Wine Fest.
Under brilliant skies, more than 100 wineries and distributors poured their finest reds and whites and tirelessly explained process and merits of their wines to the enthusiastic participants. For those so inclined, there were also seminars on cheese and wine and cheese pairings, historical overview of the developing wine industry in California, vineyard sommeliers and producers, sake masters — and even a discussion about whiskey.
As visitors wandered the studio lot and sampled the wines, live music provided by the Bill Reichenbach Quartet enhanced the festive and relaxed mood. To help keep feet on the ground even after multiple sampling, visitors could munch on cheese, artisanal breads and fruit. Sips of specially designed seltzer helped clear the palate between one wine and the next. Bottles and cases of the rare and small production wines were available at favorable prices for those who fell in love and wanted to take their favorites home.
Singular magazine and SingularCity were media sponsors of the event. It was great to see SingularCity members who stopped off at our booth to say hello or meet friends. As you can see in the photos that follow, everyone was having a great time at the entertaining, educational and, above all, fun, L.A. Wine Fest 2009.
