On Saturday, January 19, 2013 SingularCity’s Urban Adventures group is getting together at the Griffith Observatory at Griffith Park in Los Angeles for a star gazing party. These monthly events are open to the public and free!
Held in association with the Los Angeles Astronomical Society and the Los Angeles Sidewalk Astronomers, we will have the opportunity to look through a variety of telescopes set up on the lawn in front of the observatory. Not only will be able to talk to knowledgeable astronomers, we’ll look at the sun, moon, visible planets and other objects that exist light years away from the planet Earth.
The Griffith Observatory is located at 2800 East Observatory Road Los Angeles, CA 90027 Map
Following the star gazing (at approximately 7 pm), we’re having dinner together at Red Corner Asia — an authentic Thai cuisine restaurant located in the heart of Thai Town at 5267 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90027 (about a mile from the observatory).
Since there are no shows at the Hollywood Bowl or at the Greek Theater, traffic and parking should be completely manageable.
Wear clothing that will keep you comfortable in the January night air and prepare to see things you’ve never seen before!
Find us on the front steps of the observatory at 4 pm.
