How to get started
To register for SingularCity.com, you will be asked to create a profile. The Profile form will request your email address. This email address will be used as your "log in" to access the community. You will then be asked to choose a password and a username. Don't forget to read and check the "I have read and agree to the terms of service " checkbox.
Personal Information
On the next page, you will see the Personal Information form. You will be asked for standard information such as name and address, as well as other types of information. This additional information that you provide will help us to create and deliver content that is fun, dynamic and pertinent to the SingularCity community by truly reflecting the lifestyles and interests of its members.
At the end of the Personal Information form, you can choose whether or not you would like to receive information from SingularCity and/or SingularCity advertisers and sponsors.
Relationship Status
The Personal Information form includes a place to indicate your relationship status. Most participants on this site will be "single". We define "single" to include divorced and widowed and to imply "not in a committed relationship". If your official marital status is "single" but you are "in a relationship", please select the option, "in a relationship". Some registered members are "in a relationship" or "married". They may want to be members of SingularCity because their work has to do with single adults — or they simply enjoy the resources that the community offers. Their relationship status is clearly shown and we ask that they fill out the "Self Description" in the About You section to explain their interest in participating in SingularCity.
About You
The next section is About You. Here you can describe your interests and hobbies in more in depth. What are your favorite movies, books, travel destinations and restaurants? What do you like to do in your free time? Including this information is a good way to discover and share common interests and activities with other Singulars on the site. This information is optional. You may choose to fill out all the information, some of it or complete it later. You can always add information at any time or update it by editing you Profile.
You can also post your personal or business web site URL. To make your profile more complete, add information about your career or other personal or professional descriptions in the "Self Description" box on the "About You" page.
Upload a Photo of Yourself
On the next page you will be asked if you wish to upload a photo of yourself or a representative illustration. We highly recommend you add a photo or image. If you do not have an appropriate photo available now, you may skip this step and upload a photo when you choose by editing your Profile. If you are not familiar with how to upload a photo from your computer, please see the FAQ's. We are currently working to provide capability to upload photos with Safari. For now, please use FireFox or Internet Explorer.
Invite Friends
You will then be asked if you would like to invite any friends to join the SingularCity community. To do so, enter their email address(es) in the box. You can skip this step for now, if you choose. You can always send your friends invitations to SingularCity later by clicking on the Invite link.
Confirmation eMail
That's it! A confirmation e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address you designated for your membership. Click on the link in the confirmation e-mail and you will be taken directly to a log in page. Log in and participate!
Create and Join Groups and Group Bulletin Boards
Join or create a group around your interest. You can find a list of group categories on the Groups page.
Please note: There are several ways to comment within a group. Once you are on a specific Group page, you can make a general comment or join an ongoing discussion topic or "thread" for that Group. Any Group Member can also create a new discussion topic.
It is easy to set up your own group. Select the appropriate category. Choose a photo or illustration that is representative of the topic of the group. If you create a group, you become the group administrator. For more details see FAQ's and Terms of Use.
Comment on Forums
In our Forums, you can share your thoughts about the articles in Singular magazine. We have provided a Forum for each article. We also have provided Lifestyle Forum topics.
Find and Make Friends
To find potential friends on SingularCity, click on the "Members" link just below the orange navigation bar. You can enter search criteria or just browse. To request to be friends with a Member, click on their profile and click on "Add Friend". Adding a personal message with your request is a good idea. You can also meet members in the various groups and in the Forum. Wherever you see a member user name, you can click on their name to view their profile and page. If you are not a SingularCity registered member you will not be able to view member profiles.
RSVP for Events
We have events created by Groups such as Music Lovers as well as SingularCity events. We hope to meet you at our events. To RSVP: Click on "Event" on the orange navigation bar and select "Browse Events".
Create a Blog
It is easy to create your own blog. Write about something you are passionate about or just post fun information you would like to share. Your blog will also be listed on your profile. Some blogs will be selected as Featured Blogs on the Home Page of the community.
Privacy
You can select privacy settings for access to your profile. You can choose what information about your actions on the site will be reflected in the mini-feed news. Find these settings at the "profile settings" page.
We respect your privacy and will not share your personal information with advertisers or third parties. Please read our privacy policy for more information.
